Days 1-6 South Africa/Botswana

From Johannesburg, follow the Panorama Route through the Mpumalanga Region, stopping to take in the spectacular views of Blyde River Canyon. Continue on the to Greater Kruger and go in search of Africa's 'big five': lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and rhinos. Cross from South Africa to the grasslands of Botswana and the Chobe National Park. Take a cruise on the river to spot wildlife wallowing in the shallows and the majestic fish-eagles swooping for their catch of the day.

Days 7-13 Zambia/Malawi

From Livingstone, enjoy the adrenaline fuelled activities and amazing panoramas offered by the Zambezi and Victoria Falls. Take a cruise on the river, swing through a gorge or take a flight over the thundering falls. Continue on to Malawi to camp on the golden beaches of Lake Malawi. Spend time relaxing, swimming and horse riding or visit local communities that make their living from the lake's fish rich waters.

Days 14-20 Tanzania/Zanzibar

Play 'spot the elephant' on a journey through Mikumi National Park en route to Dar es Salaam. Camp just outside this commercial and industrial centre, on balmy beaches within easy reach of the nearby curio markets. Then it's time to catch a ferry to the exotic spice island, Zanzibar. Chill out on palm-fringed beaches, explore the Arabic flavoured Stone Town or snorkel and dive to discover underwater worlds. At the end of the day, dine on fresh seafood from the Indian Ocean.

Days 21-29 Tanzania/Kenya

Pass under the snow-capped peaks of Mt Kilimanjaro to the grassy east African plains. This is the home of the Masai and a visit to one of their villages gives an insight into their fascinating life. Travel through the Serengeti National Park and keep an eye out for huge herds of zebras and wildebeest. The following night, camp on the rim of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of the best spots to see lions. We stop by Arusha before a final day's drive across the border into Kenya and Nairobi, where our journey ends.
