Gorillas and Game Parks 2007

Day 1 Kampala

Spend the first night in a campground near thriving Kampala before travelling to Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 2 Lake Mburo

Embark on a safari through open plains, acacia grasslands, marshes and riverine woodland spotting antelopes, hippos, buffaloes and lakeside water birds.

Days 3-5 Queen Elizabeth National Park

Continue north to Uganda's finest game park, Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy game drives in the park, a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, and a wonderful walk through the Kyambura Gorge in search of chimpanzee. There is also the option to visit Lake Edward Chimpanzee Island Sanctuary.

Day 6 Mbarara

Spend the morning spotting game, then continue to the town of Mbarara, known for the local longhorn Ankoli cattle.

Days 7-10 Bwindi

Drive up and into the fertile mountainous area in the south-west of Uganda, to camp at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. This area of Uganda is a highly fertile, mountainous region with steep-sided hills covered from top to bottom in neatly terraced rows of cultivation. From here there are excellent views of the nearby volcanoes. If permits are available, there will be an opportunity to meet the park's mountain gorillas. If not, we will travel to nearby Mgahinha National Park to see the gorillas.

Days 11-13 Jinja

Wind back through the mountains and on to Jinja on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake. This is one of the spots Mahatma Gandhi chose to have his ashes scattered. There is time to visit Bujagali Falls, relax and take part in optional activities such as white water rafting or visit a nearby school project.

Day 14 Kampala

The adventure comes full circle on the return to Kampala.
