The Western Australia Explorer Tour

We've selected the highlights of Western Australia for this 21 day tour along the west coast. Be amazed by the diverse scenery and spectacular gorges and mountain ranges. Take a guided tour through a Diamond Mine, discover the tropical cities of Darwin and Broome, and spend 2 nights in the unique El Questro Wilderness Park. Explore National Parks and perhaps even meet the dolphins of Mia. There is so much to see in Western Australia and we will take you there!

DAY 1 - DARWIN

Arrive into Darwin and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Tonight meet your Scenic Tours' Tour Director and fellow travelling companions over a special welcome dinner.

DAY 2 - KAKADU NATIONAL PARK - YELLOW WATERS CRUISE

Travel to Kakadu National Park and visit the Bowali Visitor Centre. Stop at Nourlangie Rock to inspect ancient Aboriginal rock art. Delight in a guided cruise of Yellow Waters billabong.
Overnight Stay: Kakadu

DAY 3 - KATHERINE GORGE CRUISE

An opportunity this morning to fly over Australia's largest National Park - Kakadu (own expense). Travel to Katherine and enjoy a guided cruise through spectacular Katherine Gorge, a system of 13 gorges which drain the Arnhemland Plateau. Marvel at the towering red ochre sandstone walls as your local guide points out ancient Aboriginal rock art and unique wildlife.

DAY 4 - LAKE ARGYLE - ORD RIVER CRUISE - KUNUNURRA

Travel into Western Australia and see magnificent Lake Argyle. Enjoy an exciting cruise on the Ord River to Kununurra, where you will pass beneath immense gorge walls and peaceful river scenery with the opportunity to see rock wallabies and native birds.

DAY 5 - ORD RIVER IRRIGATION SCHEME - 5 RIVERS LOOK OUT - BUNGLE BUNGLE DAY TOUR OPPORTUNITY

You have an opportunity this morning for a scenic flight over the World Heritage listed Bungle Bungle Ranges (own expense - see Tour Inclusions). Enjoy a leisurely morning before touring the enormous Ord River irrigation scheme and farmland. Continue to Wyndham and stand in awe at the 5 Rivers Lookout. Travel to the acclaimed El Questro Wilderness Park, a million acre Wilderness Park set in the stunning outback Kimberley landscape.

DAY 6 - EL QUESTRO - SCENIC FREECHOICE

Scenic FreeChoice morning: Choose from (1) Chamberlain Gorge Cruise, Join your guide for a magnificent cruise through the towering walls of the Chamberlain Gorge, or (2) Barramundi Fishing, Join a fishing trip for a chance to land the legendary fighting fish, the Barramundi, or (3) Picnic Hamper, Relax with a gourmet picnic hamper and enjoy the ambience of this amazing wilderness park. Included in your tour at no extra cost!

DAY 7 - EL QUESTRO - ARGYLE DIAMOND MINE - HALLS CREEK

Admire the striking colours of the massive Carr Boyd Ranges as we travel to the world's largest single producer of diamonds - the Argyle Diamond Mine for a guided private tour. See the huge open cut pit (subject to being open to the public-closed in shoes required) and the massive machinery required to operate this mine.

DAY 8 - FITZROY CROSSING - GEIKIE GORGE CRUISE

Continue to the Fitzroy River where you will cruise through the exquisite Geikie Gorge with its unusual white banded walls.

DAY 9 - BOAB PRISON TREE - DERBY - BROOME

Travel to Windjana Gorge National Park (subject to road conditions) renown for its ancient landscape and aboriginal significance. Visit Derby's enormous Boab Prison Tree. Take the opportunity for a scenic flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago (own expense). Journey to tropical Broome.

You may also have the opportunity to view the spectacular Stairway to the Moon on specific nights between March and October (subject to tide and moon conditions).

DAY 10 - BROOME - SCENIC FREECHOICE

Scenic FreeChoice: Today choose from: (1) Broome and its Pearl History, Join your guide for an informative tour of Broome to discover its rich pearling history, or (2) Willie Creek pearling farm, enjoy a half day tour discovering the world of cultured pearls onboard the Willie Wanderer, or (3) Cable Beach Camel Ride or (4) Join an Aboriginal Culture Tour. DAY 11 - PORT HEDLAND - BHP TOUR

Travel south and enter the resource-rich Pilbara region. At Port Hedland join a tour of the BHP Iron Ore port facility and learn about the history of the port and view the massive loading machinery.
Overnight Stay: Port Hedland.

DAY 12 - KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK - TOM PRICE

Travel through the heart of the Pilbara to Karijini National Park, renowned for its spectacular gorges and waterfalls. Stop at Dale and Fortescue Falls and Joffre Gorge for awe-inspiring views.
Overnight Stay: in the Karijini region.

DAY 13 - TOM PRICE MINE - MILLSTREAM NATIONAL PARK - KARRATHA

Put on your hard hat and tour fascinating Mt Tom Price Hamersley Iron Ore Mine. View the amazing Hamersley Ranges, and spend some time in Millstream Chichester National Park.
Overnight Stay: Karratha.

DAY 14 - NORTH WEST SHELF GAS VENTURE VISITORS' CENTRE - EXMOUTH

Visit the informative North West Shelf Gas Venture Visitors' Centre, the largest single resource development in Australia. Leave the rich Pilbara region and journey south through the Gascoyne region.
Overnight Stay: Exmouth

DAY 15 - NINGALOO REEF CRUISE - CARNARVON

Travel by the Harold E Holt communication towers to Vlaming Head lighthouse lookout for stunning coastal views. Make a brief stop at one of the many beaches in this marine sanctuary which houses sea turtles rookeries. Head to picturesque Coral Bay to enjoy views of the local marine life and colourful coral from your glass bottom boat.
Overnight Stay: Carnarvon

DAY 16 - CORAL BAY - CARNARVON - SHARK BAY

This morning stop at the seaside village of Coral Bay. Visit Carnarvon then travel to the World Heritage listed region of Shark Bay which is home to marine life such as dolphins, dugong and turtles. Stop at Shell Beach and visit Hamelin Pool to see the colony of stromatolites.

DAY 17 - MONKEY MIA DOLPHINS - SCENIC FREECHOICE

Scenic FreeChoice: Today choose from: (1) Cruise on Shark Bay; enjoy a cruise in search of the 120 dolphins which reside in the bay, or (2) Afternoon Dugong Cruise, or (3) Sunset Shark Bay Cruise, or (4) an adventure on the Aqua Rush, or (5) an Aboriginal Walk to discover the sights of Shark Bay, or (6) a Glass Bottom Boat, Kayak or Paddle Baot. DAY 18 - KALBARRI NATIONAL PARK - GERALDTON

Travel south to Kalbarri National Park, stopping at Hawks Head, The Loop (Natures Window) and Z-Bend lookouts for spectacular scenery. In season, enjoy a guided tour of a Wildflower Centre.
Overnight stay: Geraldton

DAY 19 - THE PINNACLES - PERTH

Spend some time in Geraldton before entering Nambung National Park, site of the fascinating Pinnacles. Take in the amazing vista and wander through these strange formations. Continue on to Perth. Tonight enjoy a relaxing pre-dinner drink and dinner with your touring companions.

DAY 20 - PERTH - SCENIC FREECHOICE

Scenic FreeChoice: Today choose from: (1) Cruise to Rottnest Island; experience a relaxing day on Rottnest Island. Explore at your own pace, or (2) Cruise to Fremantle and relax down the Swan River and return on the tram car, or (3) Perth City&Kings Park, tour the sights of the city of Perth and Kings Park onboard the Explorer Bus, or (4) Swan Valley Lunch Cruise. Full Day Bungle Bungle Tour or Scenic Flight

Join a scenic flight to the Bungle Bungle flying over the Ord Irrigation area, where you will transfer to 4WD to begin your touring adventure. Embark on a walk into Cathedral Gorge with your local guide. This part of the Bungle Bungle displays the Beehive Domes for which the Bungle Bungle are so famous and adjacent is Piccaninny Creek. Continue your 4WD adventure to Bellburn Camp. Alternatively take a Scenic Flight over the Bungle Bungle and Lake Argyle. 9hr tour and scenic flight.

Mitchell Falls Explorer Plane - Heli - Walk Combo

Explore the remote Mitchell Plateau flying over El Questro Wilderness&Drysdale River National Parks landing at Mitchell Plateau. Connect with a helicopter for a flight over the spectacular Mitchell Falls. At the Falls, you will have time to explore; take a self-guided walk, swim and enjoy morning tea. You will be picked up by helicopter and returned to the Mitchell Plateau. Re-board the aeroplane for views of Port Warrender, Kalumburu, King George Falls, Berkeley River Gorge, Cambridge Gulf and Adolphus Island before landing in Kununurra. 7 hour tour

Margaret River&Busselton Jetty

Travel south to Yallingup where you are greeted by a group of Wardandi people at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
