Islands and Beaches.
Airlie Beach: Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsundays, Queensland's pristine 74 islands. Airlie Beach is the epitome of a beach town; you'll instantly feel the carefree and relaxed attitude emanating from every space. Airlie Beach is surrounded by several small communities: Bowen to the north, Shute Harbour to the west and Abel Point Marina to the east. Bowen is renowned for its impeccable beaches, while Shute Harbour is the departure point for the island ferries and Abel Point Marina is home to many of the cruising yachts.
Hayman Island : Hayman Island is located in the beautiful Whitsundays just off the Queensland coast, and home to Hayman Island Resort, one of the world's finest resorts. Whitehaven Beach: Whitehaven Beach is on the south eastern side of Whitsunday Island, in the central Whitsundays Islands Group. The beach is about 6km long from end to end and forms a small bay at it's southern end. Whitehaven Beach receives sand from a geological anomaly in the waters at the centre of the bay it forms. The sand is very fine and 98% pure silica. It has a brilliant white appearance and almost a powdery consistency. Many people polish their jewellery in the sand by rubbing it gently back and forth in the dry sand areas. Whitehaven Beach is one of the top reason visitors come to the Whitsunday Islands.
