Himalayas
Tibet - Mountains and Mysteries.
Lanzhou - Xining - Lhasa
It is the fabled land of rebirth and enchantment, where towering snow-crowned peaks soar into an immaculate blue sky, and glacial run-offs give birth to Asia´s mightiest river systems: the Ganges, Indus, Mekong, Yellow and Yangtze.
It is a land of legends and battles, where nomads, shepherds and traders pushed their trails far into the mountains, claimed their kingdoms, and planted their crops in deep valleys or upon narrow terraces gouged out of steep hillsides.
Highlights of Bhutan Cultural Tour
Cradled in the deep folds of the Great Himalayas, very little has been known about Bhutan, the "Land of the Thunder Dragon". Guarded by gigantic mountains and covered with thick primeval forests, Bhutan has enchanted visitors with its natural beauty and the spiritual, generous, and welcoming attitude of its unassuming people.
Burma Trek.
Starting in Rangoon (Yangon) we fly north to the township of Putao, which lies under the shadows of Mount Madwe (4500 metres) and Mount Slimatdin (4800 metres) and is the gateway to the mountain region. On our 10-day trek, we meet Kachin, Lisu and Rawan people, as we walk past remote villages under the shadows of many snow-capped mountains. A highlight of our trek is a climb to the summit of Mount Phongun or Phongun Razi (3500 metres), when we may be able to see India towards the west. On our return to Rangoon, we visit the famous Shwedagon Pagoda.
