Yes! This blog post is all about me! me me me…. Instead of leaving you all in mystery…. I thought I would introduce you to Dianne Hall the owner of GoWalkabout Travel and the lady behind the blog posts!
So here are some facts..
/ I was born and raised in Australia. I have a sister and an awesome niece and nephew.
/ I have been in the Travel Industry since 1988.
/ In case you are trying to do the math.. I left school when I was 15 ( this is the age you could leave back then in Australia) and this was 1985 🙂
/ My family are all still in Australia. On the West Coast in Perth.
/ I always request an aisle seat on flights as I hate feeling cramped.
/ My passion is promoting the South Pacific and I truly love all my clients. I feel quite depressed when their trip is over, but thankfully many come back for me to book them to other places in the world.
/ I am allergic to nuts.. and this includes “crazy” people.
/ In my spare time I love to read. This can be reading anything from Auto-bio’s , Travel books, and a good old sappy romance novel *sigh*
/ I love to travel and usually do this as a single woman. I have been to many countries in the world and love to be immersed in culture. Whilst I enjoy doing the typical tourist things, I truly prefer to go off the beaten track and be part of a culture.
/ I despise heights. I get major vertigo and you will never ever catch me bungee jumping or sky diving.. but hey if you want to email me a pic of you doing it, I am all for living vicariously!
/ I am now a Canadian Citizen ” Ohhhh Canada” what an awesome country!
/ I still have my Aussie accent, actually I am informed I sound like I am fresh off the boat. I do find myself saying many North American words now.. My family were not amused back in Australia when I told them to grab me a pop….. they looked at me and said ” what are you talking about” when I told them they replied for me to go back to Canada and return speaking properly.
/ For some reason Canadians can not understand me when I ask for a Coke.. I now always ask for a Pepsi and then the server says ” Oh we do not have Pepsi but will Coke be OK? ” yep for sure Coke is perfect!
/ I am not very good with walking on ice! My first experience of slipping was in front of approx 15 Canadian guys on a construction crew.. So much for finding my future husband with all my Aussie class and grace as I slid down the stairs in front of them.
/ I get depressed with Fall in Canada. Yes, those leaves are pretty but they are dying! and dying leaves means really cold weather is coming!
/ I inspect most of the hotels, tours, airlines that GoWalkabout Travel utilises. It is very important for me to book my clients with companies that I think are reputable and would put my own loved ones on.
/ I always seem to make the airport security machines go off… I actually have not been through the full body scanner as of yet as I always opt for a pat down. I get a bit of a kick out of it as many years ago I also worked in Airport Security doing that job.
/ I once worked in explosives on a mine site. Yes I can make things go boom!
/ My grammar is terrible! I supposedly write the way I speak, which I am informed is like a typical Aussie.
/ I sometimes forget what country I am in, and say things and then have to think if it pertains to Australia or Canada. For example a few weeks I was going on and on about going to the Brick to buy something. I had no clue why people were looking at me stupidly until I realised I was in Australia… I once got very excited when I heard an Aussie accent thinking ” cool an Aussie!” that was before I realised I was back in Australia and of course I would hear an Aussie accent duh!
So hopefully this has given you a bit of an idea about me. If there is anything you would like to know then leave a comment 🙂 The picture below is of myself (very casually dressed) all decked out at Nicks Restaurant in Australia. For some reason Nick decided that I should be the nights entertainment and walk around the resturant yodelling and playing instruments with him. I think I should stick to being a Travel Agent!
