Do I need a visa when traveling to Australia and New Zealand?
If you are a US Passport holder you will need a visa when enjoying a vacation or a business trip in Australia and New Zealand. Your Travel Specialist Agent can assist you with these. You need to make sure you have at least 6 months of validity left on your passport from the date that you arrive back in the USA and also declare any criminal records upfront otherwise you may be denied entry.
How long are the flights from Denver to Australia?
This all depends on how many stops you need before connecting to your International flight. If you were to fly from Los Angeles to Sydney direct the flight would be approx 15 Hours.
How long are the flights from Denver to Auckland New Zealand?
The flight time from Los Angeles to Auckland New Zealand is approx 13 hours. There are other destinations within the USA where you may be able to get a direct flight to Auckland New Zealand.
How early should I check-in for my departure flights from Denver to Australia or New Zealand?
Like anywhere in North America, flight and traffic delays can cause mayhem and a really bad start to your holiday! If you departing from Denver Airport and traveling in from Colorado Springs, Aspen, Boulder, etc it is way better to be checked in and enjoying a drink than to be stressed at the beginning of your dream vacation. We always recommend being check-in at least three hours prior to your first flight even if it is only an internal flight!
How many days will I lose when flying from Denver to Australia and New Zealand?
When flying to both Australia and New Zealand you will cross the International Dateline and lose a day… for example… if you depart on 01st May from Denver you would arrive in New Zealand or Australia on the 03rd May. On your return, you usually arrive back in The USA on the same date that you departed Australia or New Zealand… always great if it is your Birthday as it goes on for longer!
UGH! Jet Lag how nasty will it be?
Jet lag always hits tourists the hardest when returning back to Denver after enjoying your luxury travel vacation in Australia and New Zealand. Always allow yourself an extra day or two before going back to work. Our Australia and New Zealand Travel Agents fly this route many times per year and they are all adamant you need extra days to not be walking like a zombie!
I have a guided coach tour booked how far ahead should we arrive?
Always plan to depart a day or two early if you have a guided tour in New Zealand or Australia booked. This will allow you some extra time not only to adjust to the time zone but also to not stress if your flight is delayed and you are connecting onto a fully-guided bus tour. Of course, your top Denver Travel Specialists are always there to assist you if there are any problems with our 24/7 emergency number when on your trip.
How far ahead should I plan and book my vacation to Australia and New Zealand?
Book early! We need time to start planning and designing you a once-in-a-lifetime custom itinerary to travel DownUnder. The earlier you book the better chance you have of getting to stay in the best accommodation options and getting the first choice on small group tours- plus your Australia and New Zealand Luxury Vacation Specialists can truly get to know what you are after without feeling rushed – remember your dream vacation will be tailormade just for you!
What are my accommodation options?
Consider booking a mixture of accommodation when planning a trip to New Zealand and Australia. There are some very restrictive luggage conditions on some domestic flights in the South Pacific. If you are visiting for several weeks or more you will want to stay in an apartment so you can access a washer and dryer. Your accommodation choices range from luxury high-end island retreats in The Whitsunday Islands to glamping in a true Australia outback experience at Ayers Rock, or bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels, and luxury lodges in New Zealand.
Are there multiple time differences in Australia and New Zealand?
Be aware of different time zones! Just like in North America not all regions in Australia have Daylight Saving. When on your flight always listen to the flight attendant to check if the time has changed. Even cities that sit above each other on a map have different time zones during daylight saving… i.e Sydney and Brisbane. New Zealand does follow Daylight Saving.
Help! What do I do if there is a flight delay or change?
Keep an eye on the Denver Airport website on your day of departure! It is really important that you check and double-check the Denver Airport website departures to make sure your flight is operating on time. Most airlines these days do not advise travelers if there are any schedule changes or delays right prior to a flight date. If they do it is usually way after the fact! Also, remember to check your International departure airports website to make sure there have been no schedule changes. If you see any changes which may affect your trip then make sure you contact your Aussie or Kiwi Travel Agent for assistance- that is what we are there for remember!
Can we have a stopover in Tahiti, the Cook Islands, or Fiji?
You sure can and we highly recommend it! Air New Zealand is your best airline choice if you wish to stop over in one of the beautiful South Pacific Islands. Our Travel Agency can build this all into your package trip and offer our recommendations! If you are on your dream honeymoon then you may wish to have a read of our blog post on the best overwater bungalows in the South Pacific.
